Click here December 2021 Our holiday treasuresIn the coming weeks, people across Aotearoa New Zealand will head off on holiday adventures. I imagine many Te Pūtara readers will be among them. Whatever you're doing, I hope you take time for the things you treasure. For me, that means being with friends and family, enjoying time outdoors, and perhaps some urban attractions. I'm sure that you'll agree that it's seldom the gifts under the tree that make this season special. More often, it's about being with the people we love, in places that we value. And so as we look toward 2022, I hope we can all continue working together to protect these treasures: the people and places of Aotearoa. This would be a great gift for future generations. Building better futures: meet the 2021 Change Maker championCongratulations to Sophia Olo-Whaanga, winner of the Change Maker Award category in the Sustainable Business Awards. The EPA sponsors the Change Maker Award, which celebrates a young person driving change within their organisation or the wider community. Sophia has been recognised for her role as an advocate for better social and environmental outcomes in the construction industry. 'Residency' for organismsA tomato plant virus is among seven organisms in line for deregulation. Have your say by 17 December. Broad spectrum responseWe're analysing the 465 responses to our call for information on glyphosate. We'll release a summary in early 2022. 1080 annual reportOur latest report shows fewer aerial 1080 operations took place in 2020 than the previous year, and details research developments. 1080 is one of the most tightly controlled substances in New Zealand. It's used to target introduced predators like rats, possums and other pests. We're pleased to announce that Rob Campbell has been appointed as the new EPA Board Chair. He replaces Julie Hardaker, whose term expired in November.
