Premium Deficiency Notices

A Premium Deficiency Notice from FSLSO indicates that:

  • Premium submissions from your company have either not been received or
  • Premium totals are significantly less than what has been reported by Agent or IPC filers for the stated quarter.

Under Sections 626.931(3) & (4), Florida Statutes, insurers are required to report all surplus lines insurance transacted for insurance risks located within the state. Reporting is quarterly for foreign insurers and annually for alien insurers.

It is critical that you resolve all deficiencies before the next filing deadline. Failure to report all premium-bearing transactions within the required reporting period may result in a referral to the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation.

Catastrophe Contact Information Due May 31

It is critical to update your information before hurricane season begins on June 1. This information serves as a valuable resource to FSLSO staff and state regulators when assisting policyholders following a natural disaster.

Even if you filed previously and your contact information hasn’t changed, you must acknowledge that your current information is correct. We ask agents and insurers to update their information on an annual basis.

To update your catastrophe contact information, log into SLIP+ and click Catastrophe Data under the Compliance tab.

Upcoming Premium Reports Deadline
June 30

Please note the Foreign Insurer Q1-2025 and Alien Insurer Annual premium reports are due on June 30th.

It is important you submit this data on time to comply with Florida Statute 626.931. Any surplus lines insurer who fails to file a report in the form and within the time required or provided for in the Surplus Lines Law may be fined up to $500 per day for each day such failure continues, beginning the day after the report was due, until the date the report is received.

Reports can be filed via FSLSO SLIP+ or Batch.
