Message from the Head of School

Yesterday, you received the findings from this year’s parent and guardian survey. Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete it. We had excellent participation, and your feedback helps shape our plans going forward while contributing to our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement as part of our Active Stewardship strategy.

As part of this strategy, we regularly collect input from all of our constituent groups—alumnae, faculty and staff, parents, and students—through various methods. But what happens after we gather this input? Read more.

The blue links in the following sections will take you to the school website where you can find more details about those items. You will need to log into the website. The Newsletters page in My CHS is a permanent home for the info found in newsletters. Bookmark this page.

Emergency Preparedness Week - May 4-10, 2025

Across Canada, Emergency Preparedness Week highlights the importance of being prepared for emergencies. At school, we prepare for emergencies that require immediate and trained responses such as evacuation, lockdown, hold and secure, and the “drop, cover, hold” earthquake response. In addition to regular drills, we rely on families to be prepared. Learn more about what you and your family can do in an emergency on the blog

Student Experience

From toy-building in Junior Kindergarten to the Senior School Coffee House and spirited student elections, plus a plethora of sports (track and field, tennis, soccer, and more!) and the STEM Club Mini Fair, it’s been another busy couple of weeks on campus! Check out the highlights gallery, and a gallery for Finding Nemo Jr.

Fostering Understanding & Appreciation: Neurodiversity Month at CHS

Neurodiversity Month in April is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the diverse ways our brains work, and highlighting the strengths and talents of neurodivergent individuals, while challenging stereotypes and promoting inclusion. This year, both the Junior and Senior Schools have continued to embrace our campus diversity through Neurodiversity Month initiatives to foster understanding, support, and belonging. Read more.

Red Dress Day in the Senior School

At Monday’s assembly, the Senior School gathered with open hearts to honour the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ people as part of Red Dress Day.

With red dresses hanging from the balcony of Manrell Hall, the assembly began with performances of Forgotten Warriors and In Memoriam by the CHS Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, and Grade 9 Choir. They were followed by Tsatsu Stalqayu, the Coastal Wolf Pack, a multi-generational family of drummers, dancers, and storytellers who emphasized the importance of children growing up in safe, loving social structures where their language and culture are preserved.

Thank you to the Senior School staff who contributed to bringing this meaningful assembly to life, and all the staff and students for their dedication and thoughtful consideration of Red Dress Day in the Senior School. The assembly was a pertinent opportunity to renew our commitment to taking meaningful actions to support the important work of listening, learning, and standing together in support of justice and healing for all—and to ensure that we never stop looking for those who are missing.

With plenty of track meets in the Junior School, and Zones and ISAs ramping up for several of our Senior School teams, there is no shortage of excitement in the world of the Crofton Falcons! Learn more on the blog.

CHS Parents' Auxiliary

Grandparents' Day – Thank You!

Grandparents’ Day on Friday, April 25 was a joyful celebration for students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 3 and their grandparents and significant elders. After visiting classrooms, grandparents enjoyed afternoon tea in Manrell Hall, where they were treated to special programming featuring their grandkids. A huge thank you to our Grade 4 student ambassadors, the many parent volunteers who supported this event, and event chairs Nimi Johal and Paige Lai for creating this unforgettable experience for our youngest students and their elders. View the gallery here.

Service Together – Supporting Community Partners

As part of the PA’s Service Together initiative, last week Senior School students and parents prepared nutritious snacks and care packages to support local centres assisting people facing food insecurity. This was a unique opportunity to give back to our community in partnership with the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre and the Powell Street Getaway Resource Centre. A sincere thank you to event chairs Yan Zhang and Sharon Xia and to the many volunteers who took part in last week’s Service Together event!
