We are kicking off the 2024 Housing Our Future webinar series with a topic that has been top of mind for many homeowners recently. Please join us on February 8th from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. for a webinar on property taxes and the recent reappraisal process. The reappraisal process establishes current fair market value for all properties in Hamilton County. For the recent 2023 reappraisal, the Hamilton County Auditor is obligated to establish values based on the recent real estate market.
Nationwide, the housing market has been heating up and it has been red hot in Hamilton County. Both Cincinnati and Hamilton County experienced a significant increase in residential market values between 2022 and 2023. In Cincinnati, 2023 residential market values were 34.27% higher than 2022 market values. In Hamilton County, 2023 residential market values were 34.02% higher than 2022 market values. This report released by the Hamilton County Auditor shows a comparison of 2022 and 2023 market values for each Cincinnati neighborhood and Hamilton County community.
The change in the value of property is one factor that impacts property taxes. In most cases, levies can also impact taxes. For many homeowners who want to stay in their homes, the increase in property taxes can present a real challenge. For severely cost burdened households it could even threaten the loss of their home.
This webinar will be an opportunity for homeowners and our agency partners to get a better understanding of the property tax reappraisal process in Hamilton County, how our taxes are used, and to help plan for property tax increases.
