September is another big month with a wide variety of initiatives to choose from. Keep reading to find out how you can be involved and keep Thriving@Flinders. Thriving@Flinders: Spotlight Name: Gisele Bueno How long have you been at Flinders? I first joined Flinders in 2010 as the Facilities & Events Coordinator at Victoria Square and, over the years, I’ve held different roles across a number of areas. Fifteen years on, I’m proud to now be part of the Library, supporting strategic communications and engagement. ![]() What supports your wellbeing at Flinders? A good laugh and the great sense of humour I share with the wonderful people I’ve met over the years always lifts my spirits. Staying connected to colleagues and contributing to meaningful projects gives me purpose, while the flexibility to work across different Flinders locations keeps things fresh — I love seeing how students engage with each space. I also enjoy getting involved in campus activities and watching the campus come alive when students are around, whether in the Hub, on the Plaza, or in other spaces. And the nature around the main campus is a real gift — a walk in the bushland is such a simple but powerful way to reset. How do you keep yourself thriving? I make space for creativity and new ideas at work, and balance that with time outdoors and with family. Listening to podcasts on my way in sparks fresh thinking, and a morning coffee with a colleague sets a positive tone for the day. I also recharge by spending time with friends, planning my next travel adventure, and going to regular soundbath and breathwork sessions — all of which make a big difference to my wellbeing. What’s your wellbeing tip for others? Listen to music you enjoy while you work — it’s an easy way to lift your mood. If you can, try working from a different spot on campus, whether it’s another floor, the Library, or the Hub, to refresh your perspective. And take small pauses — step outside, go for a walk, or have a quick chat. Little things can make a big difference. Only a few tickets remaining! Come along to a ticketed event in Alere this R U OK? Day. Our panel presentation will be hosted by Tamsin Simounds, Leadership and Executive Coach, and has been designed to spark and inspire meaningful conversations. The panel will include:
