New NSF Program Tool for Prospective PIs: ProSPCT
Submit your concept outline to the NSF's new Program Suitability & Proposal Concept Tool to determine the suitability of your project idea. NSF staff will review and determine if a full proposal is warranted. Submit on the website.

Research Subcontracting: Subaward Modification Form update
The Subaward Order Form for Modifications has been updated. Please download the latest version from the OVPR Forms and Policies page and discontinue use of older versions of this form.
When is the proposal deadline not the due date?
For federal government proposals, the deadline rolls forward to the next business day if a deadline/due date falls on the weekend. For non-federal proposals, the deadline rolls backward to the prior business day for a weekend due date. Contact the Pre-Award Team with questions.

InfoEd Lab Animals: Annual Continuation—no longer required
Annual Continuations are no longer required as of June 2023. If you are looking to submit your de novo/triennial renewal submission, create a new protocol or copy your existing protocol.
Research Agreements and Contracting
New email addresses for RAC
RAC created topic-specific email addresses to streamline requests to the appropriate office contact and reviewer. For data use agreements, email DUA@Brown.edu. For material transfer agreements, email MTA@Brown.edu. For all other types of research agreements within RAC’s scope and other general inquiries, email ResearchContracts@Brown.edu.

Jimmy Xu, Petr Moroshkin, and Akshay Nagar of the School of Engineering received a patent for organic thin-film quantum sources for generating entangled photons.

Frederike Petzschner receives MIT-Royalty Pharma Prize Competition Runner-Up Prize
Frederike Petzschner, of Brown’s Carney Institute for Brain Science, won the $100,000 2023–24 MIT-Royalty Pharma Prize Competition Runner-Up Prize for her SOMA startup’s digital pain-management system, which helps to manage and relieve chronic pain. See video.
