Our new bills for this year were introduced to the Idaho Legislature last month. They passed in Senate Committee hearings and on the Senate floor. S 1046 Instruction on fetal development to be included in Health Ed / Human Biology class. Here's a link to LiveAction's article on this Idaho bill. S 1058 The Idaho ‘Safe Haven’ law lets women know there’s a safe alternative to abandoning their newborn (if they don't want to parent). This bill would set a new
requirement that baby goes into the care of an adoption agency or adoptive home within 24 hours.
S 1104 Adoption agencies must inform birth mothers that they are entitled to their own legal counsel and individual therapy services. These Adoption bills further underscore Idaho's leadership in Infant adoption. To read more on that, go to Unplanned Good's policy page.

Bringing Adoption Education to California
Our Idaho adoption education bill from last year, adding adoption info into Idaho's health ed classes, is being introduced in California! I'll be in Sacramento later in March to testify in the Legislature's K-12 Education Committee hearing.
Would appreciate your thoughts and prayers for this hearing; that the Committee will vote to send our bill to the Floor with a "do pass" recommendation.
Here's the bill, would bring adoption into California's K-12 health classes.
Salt & Light Radio Boise, March 10, 2025
I enjoyed being a guest on the show again today, talking with Hope and Brian is always fun. We discussed the adoption bills that are working their way through the Idaho legislature. Listen to that here.
In early APRIL, I'll be speaking at the College of Southern Idaho, at the invitation of the Students for Life Club. Usually college students are up for a lively debate, or at least a lively Q&A, so I'm really looking forward to this.
RENEW Retreat on the East Coast
SO looking forward to attending the Second Mothers' RENEW Retreat in early MAY.
Not only do I get to attend, I'll be honored to lead a panel of birth mothers who are talking about their experience choosing adoption for their babies.

"Open Adoption: A Changed Reality" was published on Adopting.com. It's a part of spreading the word about open adoption as an option.
I'm happy to share it with you here.

Phrase of the Day: Open Adoption
Open adoption is a form of adoption in which the biological and adoptive families have each other's contact information and varying degrees of contact with each other, by phone, in person and/or through social media.
DID YOU KNOW? - Fewer than 0.5% of women facing unplanned pregnancy make an adoption plan?
- When they do, it's because an adult in their life encouraged them to consider adoption?
- There are over one million U.S. couples waiting now to adopt?

Why are we doing this?
Young women are 50% more likely to make an adoption plan when the trusted adult in their life suggests it to them. Otherwise, most girls don't give it a minute's thought, and choose between abortion or single parenting. That's why we need to get this on the radar of more people.
Please forward this newsletter to someone you know who has been touched by adoption. Ask them to sign up for our monthly news here and/or contribute their story to our web site. Thank you so much for your continued encouragement & support.

About Unplanned GoodWe promote adoption as a positive option for those facing unplanned pregnancies. It can be so very good (and beautiful!) for all involved. Unplanned Good is reaching out to both teens and their parents, to let them know that adoption is an option. Studies have shown that young women are 50% more likely to see their pregnancy through and make an adoption plan when an adult suggests this path. More recently, we're getting involved in legislative efforts to make it easier to choose adoption, and take better care of the women who do. Please visit our site, and pass
it on. Read the encouraging, heartfelt stories there. Send in your own story, and ask a friend to do the same.
