A Message from the Chair

Dear Friends,

This year the committee has continued to meet approximately every three weeks from 1 February. We have been moving forward on a variety of fronts. Most importantly, the draft Canonical Statutes have been approved by the Institute Leader, Sr Noelle Corscadden IBVM, and her council at Casa Loreto, Rome. As a result, we are now focused on working with the Loreto Ministries Limited (LML) Board concerning their future responsibilities under these Statutes. We are also preparing the necessary changes to the LML Constitution and planning the separation of the finances of the Province and the future MPJP.

If you look at the mission statements on the websites of other Catholic ministries, you will see how differently each organisation expresses its ‘purpose’. We had a very special meeting with the Provincial Council on 1 April to workshop a draft ‘Mission, Vision and Values’ statement for our new entity. The Formation working party continues to consult widely among our own members, our Loreto colleagues and experienced formators in other organisations as it refines the ‘Formation Framework’ for the future leaders of the MPJP.

LML has recently been admitted as an ‘associate member’ of the Association of Ministerial Public Juridic Persons (AMPJP), whose website is always worth a visit. It will be admitted to full membership once our new MPJP is approved by the Vatican, which we hope will be some time this year.

In the meantime, please continue to hold the committee and its numerous helpers and advisors in your prayers.

Sr Mary Wright IBVM
