Free to Run uses adventure sports to develop female leaders in areas of conflict. Their program is designed to increase opportunities for women and girls, ages 15-25, to engage in public life, using sport as a tool for empowerment and education. They focus on the physical, emotional, and social well-being of their participants and work to develop them into community leaders who can bring people together across cultural, ethnic and religious lines. At Free to Run, they believe that the free and full participation of women and girls as equals is a key component to resolving conflict and promoting peace.

They are 2019 Beyond Sport Global Award Official Shortlisters in the Sport for Gender Equality Category.
