Hello |

What's On in Central Otago - September.

We are fast approaching the official opening of the biennial Arts Gold Awards 2019. This year, the awards attracted a
multitude of entries from throughout New Zealand - 58 of these were selected to show in the Finalists' Exhibition. A list of these finalists can be found at www.centralstories.com. The Arts Gold Awards Evening 2019 and exhibition
opening celebrations will be held at Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery from 5.30pm on Friday the 27th September. We are delighted to have the Hon Grant Robertson, Minister of Finance and Associate Minister for the Arts, Culture and Heritage as our guest speaker. Limited tickets are available for this event, these can be purchased from Central Stories now. The Judge's Floor Talk will be held at Central Stories on Sunday the 29th
September at 10.30am and the Finalists' Exhibition will open to the public from the 28th of September. Works in this exhibition will be for sale. Bannockburn is one of Central's special spots...a place with few footpaths, good wine and plenty of evidence of its goldmining histories. With some of the most spectacular views of the Pisa and Dunstan Ranges to be had at every turn it is no surprise that several artists have chosen to settle in and around this area. From the 1st of October to the 6th of October Across the Bridge in Bannockburn celebrates these artists, this environment and plenty more, with an exciting line up of workshops, exhibitions and entertainment. Click on the link above for a full programme. Alexandra will once again welcome spring with the annual Contact Alexandra Blossom Festival starting on Friday the 27th of September with 'The News Round the Clock Race' and the 'Fulton Hogan Mardi Gras'. The 'Grand Procession' starts at 11.45 on Saturday, while celebrations in the park continue with entertainment for all ages including jugglers, magic
shows, clowns and market stalls. Headline acts this year are 'The Warratahs', and 'Werewolves'. For further information and a full list of supporting events, (including the Central Otago Art Society Blossom Festival Exhibition), check out the webpage www.blossom.co.nz. Finally, Track Zero is excited to announce a new collaborative project, called 'What if Climate Change was Purple? which will bring together artists & scientists to create powerful new artworks that inspire climate action. 'What if Climate Change was Purple?' launches with an open call for applications from artists & scientists to join the project. The deadline for submissions is Friday, 4th October 2019, at 5pm.
