Continuous improvement and employer-leadership are key to the success of the Apprenticeship Approvals Group

The industry-led body which reviews and approves all Scottish Apprenticeships - the Apprenticeship Approvals Group (AAG) - has published its Chair’s End of Year Report for 2023. 

The annual report provides an overview of the key highlights and successes of the group, as it continues to be firmly established as a part of the governance system for apprenticeships in Scotland.

Scottish Apprenticeship Awards - Nominations now open!

The Scottish Apprenticeship Awards are now accepting nominations!  Please consider putting forward individuals and organisations who you believe demonstrate excellence in the delivery of apprenticeships.   

The deadline for nominations is 12pm (midday) on Wednesday 4 October 2023 and winners will be revealed during Scottish Apprenticeship Week, which takes place from 4-8 March 2024.

SAAB communications activity

The latest quarterly report on SAAB communications includes all external SAAB activity and engagements.

It takes a look back over the first quarter of 2023-24, and a look into planned activity for the current and forthcoming quarters.

Programme for Government

The Programme for Government is published every year and sets out the actions the Scottish Government will take in the coming year, and its key priorities.

First Minister Humza Yousaf announced his first Programme for Government on 5 September 2023. It includes the legislative programme for the next parliamentary year.

  • We are still looking for new members to join some of our groups – have a look at the member specification and role details which you can share with your networks or anyone you think might be a good candidate.

    If you have any questions or would like to recommend a contact/ someone on your network as a new SAAB members, please reach out the SAAB Team.  

SAAB Information calls - got a topic you'd like covered?

  • SAAB Information calls have been running for the past year, and with great success! These sessions used to keep SAAB members up-to-date with key policy initiatives, latest research and hot topics relating to skills and the world of work. They are 1-hour, webinar-style sessions, where attendees hear from expert speaker(s) with the opportunity for discussion and questions at the end.  Suggestions for topics and specialist speakers are welcomed from all members – just email a member of the SAAB team with your ideas!  

Apprenticeship development - help design and develop apprenticeships for your sector

  • SDS are looking for employers who can support with the current phase of standards and frameworks development across a variety of sectors:  Accountancy; Customer Service; Hospitality; Freight Transport(Road and Rail); and Fitting Building Interiors(plastering, dry lining and ceiling fixing).
