What's on in Central Otago - December

Over the past couple of months, a massive 30 metres of wall has been transformed into a work of art by members of the Maniototo Community. The
Art Blast Youth Mural Project was organised and facilitated by Kim Gibson, Aroha Novak and Maxine Williams. Around 45 young people took part in the planning, creation and painting of the mural which depicts four seasons in the Maniototo and brightens up the wall at the Ranfurly Swimming Pool. This project has been a great opportunity for the young people of Maniototo to play a part in beautifying and subsequently taking pride in their environment while having the opportunity to get involved in the process of creating art. Hopefully, we will see more of these projects happen in Central Otago in the coming years. The opening of the Muster of Artists, combined with a book launch, wine tasting and saffron sampling was held at Central Stories on Friday. Wine making, saffron growing, writing and producing visual art require skill, dedication and character to achieve excellence. The evening was a recognition and celebration of some of those who excel in producing these fine things in Central Otago. The exhibition is on until the 28th of January and is definitely worth a look. This year we are spoilt for choice with markets, exhibitions, music, performance and entertainment over the summer period.
