Honouring Moira Schulte

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Moira Schulte, who taught at Crofton House School for 30 years, from 1967 to 1998, as the first female physics teacher in BC. As shared in her obituary, “She was instrumental in the school’s success at numerous provincial and national science fairs, she developed its AP Chemistry program, and she also set up and ran extra-curricular clubs in photography, video editing and computing when all of these technologies were in their infancy.”
The family plans to hold a Celebration of Life at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please express your memories of Moira by donating to the charity of your choice.

Women’s Resistance in the Holocaust

In partnership with the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre, Senior School students have been engaging in purposeful dialogue to deepen their understanding not only of Holocaust history, but of the powerful themes of resilience, action and resistance. Students had the honour of hearing from two holocaust survivors: Lillian Boraks-Nemetz and Amalia Boe-Fishman. Another Wonderful CHS Community Book Club Gathering
A heartfelt thank you to all the parents and alumnae who joined us for our January Community Book Club discussion of Becoming Me, Again. We are especially grateful to author and CHS alumna, Natasha Soregaroli ’20, for sharing her insights and engaging so thoughtfully with our community. Natasha's book sparked a lively discussion about how to navigate the challenges of teenage years, and in particular, the positives and negatives of social media. It was a very enlightening and enjoyable morning. And, as always, a sincere thank you to our wonderful Book Club organizer, Ching Chen, for making these meaningful gatherings possible.
Save the date! Our next CHS Community Book Club meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 4, at 9:30 am in the Nocente Family Fireplace Lounge. We will be discussing the novel The Correspondent by Virginia Evans. This story follows 73-year-old Sybil Van Antwerp as she reflects on her life, relationships, regrets, and the power of connection through the letters and written exchanges that force her to confront past wounds and seek forgiveness. Light refreshments will be served. Please RSVP here.
