FSLSO SPECIAL EDITION:
FSLA Wrap-Up & Summer Highlights
This summer gave FSLSO plenty to celebrate, but more importantly, it gave us several opportunities to support and connect with the industry we serve. From welcoming our inaugural Under 40 Leadership Scholarship class and sharing the latest E&S market insights at the FSLA Annual Convention to receiving recognition for our service, workplace and creative work, each milestone reflects a different part of what makes FSLSO what it is. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights.
2026 FSLA Annual Convention Wrap-Up
Our team had a fantastic time at this year’s Florida Surplus Lines Association Annual Convention, catching up with longtime colleagues and keeping the coffee flowing. The convention featured a strong lineup of conversations and programming focused on the issues shaping our industry, including remarks from Florida CFO Blaise Ingoglia, legislative updates and a fascinating look at what science tells us about AI and human judgment.
The convention also marked a leadership transition for FSLA, giving us the opportunity to thank Al Geraci for his service as president and congratulate Tonya Rivera as she steps into the role. FSLSO was proud to be part of the program as well, from launching our inaugural Under 40 Leadership Scholarship to sharing the latest market trends through Executive Director Mark Shealy’s presentation, A Tale of Three Markets. Thank you to FSLA, its leadership and everyone who helped make this year’s convention such a valuable opportunity to connect, learn and look ahead.
Investing in the Next Generation
One of the highlights of this year’s convention was also a first for FSLSO: the launch of our inaugural Under 40 Leadership Scholarship. The program provided 20 emerging professionals with complimentary registration to the FSLA Annual Convention, giving them the opportunity to learn from industry leaders, build relationships and become more connected to Florida’s surplus lines community.
We’re proud to support the next generation of insurance professionals and look forward to seeing where these emerging leaders go next.
Supporting the future of our industry is one way we invest in it. Providing timely market information is another.
At the FSLA Annual Convention, FSLSO Executive Director Mark Shealy presented A Tale of Three Markets, exploring trends across Florida’s surplus lines market and what the data may tell us about where the market is headed.
If you missed the presentation, we’ve made it available below.
Inaugural Sunny Award Winner
Our work at FSLA also brought an unexpected honor. FSLSO was proud to receive the inaugural Sunny Award from the Florida Surplus Lines Association, recognizing our service and continued support of Florida’s surplus lines industry. Being the first recipient made the recognition especially meaningful. We’re grateful to FSLA for its partnership and proud of the work our teams continue to do in support of the industry we serve.
Four Years as a Best Place to Work
Recognition from our industry means a great deal to us, but the work behind it starts with the people inside our office.
For the fourth consecutive year, FSLSO has been named one of Florida Trend’s Best Companies To Work For in Florida in the small-company category. This year, we earned the #2 spot. This recognition reflects the dedicated people who make FSLSO what it is and the commitment of service they bring to our customers and one another.
And One More Reason to Celebrate...
Last year, we decided to do the most 2025 thing possible. We created our holiday video entirely with AI. We had so much fun with the project that we decided to see what others thought.
Turns out, they liked it too. FSLSO received its first Telly Award for the project, winning in the Telly Awards’ inaugural AI category. What is a Telly Award you ask? Telly Awards honor excellence in video and television across all screens, with past winners including Disney, HBO, Netflix, ESPN, National Geographic, Microsoft and NASA. We’re proud to bring that same spirit of creativity and innovation to our communications that has long defined the surplus lines industry itself.
From investing in emerging leaders and sharing market intelligence to strengthening industry partnerships and celebrating the people behind our work, it has been a busy summer at FSLSO. We’re proud of what our team has accomplished, but even more excited about what comes next. Thank you to our customers, partners and industry colleagues for continuing to be part of it.
