Does submitting your study to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) make you break out in a cold sweat? Dread no more! Join the IRB’s upcoming online workshop “Submitting your first study to Chapman’s IRB” on September 19, 2025 from 1:00-2:00 pm. The workshop is geared towards researchers new to Chapman. IRB staff will be walking you through use of Cayuse-Human Ethics. Completion of either CITI course: “Biomedical Research”, or “Social and Behavioral Research” before the workshop is highly recommended to give you some baseline knowledge on what the IRB is.

Writing Time Management Tips Writing is core to academic success, but when your schedule gets filled with teaching, service, mentoring, administrative tasks, family, etc., writing is often the first thing that gets pushed aside. It is important to figure out how to sustain your writing when everything else feels more urgent. Check out NCFDD’s latest blog, that includes five practical strategies for protecting writing time in a demanding academic life.

Application Now Open for 2025-2026 Library Open Access Award The Supporting Open Access Research and Scholarship (SOARS) program is designed to provide financial support to Chapman University assistant and associate faculty publishing the results of their research, scholarship, or creative activity in an Open Access (OA) journal. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis through late April 2026. Interested participants can view the application here. Teaching with the Library – A Virtual Library Workshop for Instructors The Leatherby Libraries will be hosting a virtual workshop for faculty on Tuesday, August 12, at 12:15 p.m. that will provide a comprehensive overview of library resources and services, and they can be used to support your courses. This session will highlight how to locate and provide links to eBooks, scholarly articles, streaming media, and other resources in your syllabus and Canvas. Pivot Funding Search – Office Hours Our Data Services Librarian will be hosting office hours on the first Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. to help you craft your Pivot keywords for your profile and searches. Participants can drop in virtually or in person, or they can book a one-on-one consultation for help outside of office hours.
