Dear Women's Auxiliary Board, I hope this newsletter finds you well and I hope you are all staying out of this brutal summer heat! This past month, I was able to meet with our Executive Committee to further plans for this upcoming fall semester. We all left the meeting so encouraged and excited for our time together this fall. Back to school is right around the corner
and I could not be more ready for our campus to be busy with students again in a couple short weeks. I am so grateful to have you as a partner in ministry as we continue to educate and empower the next generation of leaders for the Kingdom this fall. Being a part of upcoming luncheon committees, planning to serve our international students at FLOW, and supporting various DBU programs has made a significant impact in the lives of our students. Your dedication to building a great Christian university that is pleasing to God is evident through your prayers, service, and generous giving. There is so much going on in the lives of our auxiliary board, so continue reading for all the
information you need. Keep scrolling and don't forget to mark your calendars!

Perry Free Enterprise Award and the Tom Landry Leadership Award.

Hillcrest Great Hall, John G. Mahler Student Center Our Ruth Awards Christmas Luncheon honors women who exemplify commitment to God, family, and others like Ruth from the Bible. This annual Christmas tradition is always a favorite of our members as we hear the testimonies of ladies who love the Lord and support DBU wholeheartedly. Invitations will be mailed out at the end of October. Make your reservations early as this event sells out quickly.
DBU All-University Prayer Requests Enrollment- Please pray for the prospective students that have not yet made a final decision about coming to DBU. Pray the Lord will lead them to DBU. Pray for high school students who have committed to taking dual credit courses
with DBU (HSA) and that they would complete the final steps to enroll. Move-In Day, Wednesday, August 16- Upperclassmen and staff will greet students at their cars and help carry their things to their rooms—all day long in the heat! This first enthusiastic greeting goes a long way in helping new students and parents start this big day off right. Pray that the Lord gives us energy and that the day goes smoothly. Pray for students living in the dorms to have opportunities to grow close to the other residents on the hall during the year. Pray for roommates to acquire conflict resolution skills as they learn
to live in a different environment and with new people. The ability to build strong friendships in the dorm can help students to thrive in all areas. Local Churches- FYI studies show that nearly half of Christian college students have difficulty finding a new church, and similarly nearly half of teens who grew up attending youth group fail to connect with a faith group after high school. Our local churches have a vital role in coming alongside us to help students progress in their walk with God. Pray that our students would be motivated to get involved in a local church and that the Holy Spirit would give
church leaders ideas of how to best connect with students. Pray that our students will not just attend church but will also develop friendships with more mature church members who can serve as mentors for them throughout their entire time at DBU. Professors and Staff- Fuller Youth Institute studies show that when young adults have deep friendships with Christian “heroes” outside their own family, they are more likely to remain active in their faith. Pray that new students will seek out mentors on campus who will listen empathetically and be interested in hearing about their passions and dreams.
Pray that faculty and staff will have a daily desire to have meaningful conversations with students. Pray that our professors will notice students who may be struggling to succeed or to fit in and will carve out time to encourage them. Counseling Center- Pray that students will take advantage of the expert counseling available through the DBU Counseling Center, led by Amy Standifer, our new director. Pray for students to experience breakthroughs in areas that are hindering them from flourishing at DBU. Resident Assistants- Resident Assistants have one of the most important jobs in helping new students get adjusted to life at DBU, especially the first weeks of the semester. Pray that the Holy Spirit will guide them in how to best build encouraging relationships with their residents on their hall. Pray that the Lord will give each R.A. wisdom to handle the various emotional situations that inevitably occur with their residents during the course of a school year. Pray that the R.A.s will take the time to rest and to grow more mature in their faith so that they will be ready to handle the challenges of nurturing young adults who are dealing with loneliness, homesickness, and
anxiety. Athletics- From Matt Duce, Director of Athletics: Our goal as an athletic department is to disciple every student-athlete so they can know the Lord intimately and trust Him with their entire being. Please pray that their hearts and minds will be willing and ready to receive all that the Lord has in store for them this upcoming year. Please also pray for our coaches, support staff, and administrative team as we follow Jesus and serve our student-athletes. If you would like to be assigned a few specific International Students to pray for, please email our Director of Prayer Ministry, Kristi Coleman at kristi@dbu.edu.
Volunteer to bring housewares, new or used, to help furnish apartments for our international students for the fall semester. Students moving from other countries need basic housewares to cook, sleep, and live in their new DBU apartments. Suggested items include dishes, cookware, silverware, glasses, sheets, towels, utensils. Email leslie@dbu.edu to arrange to drop off items this summer before their give away on August 24th!
Scholarships are always a great way to support DBU. Students are transformed personally by receiving a Christ-centered higher education at DBU but need help financially. To contribute, go to www.dbu.edu/give. Choose "Student Scholarships." You may also send a check in the mail to Dallas Baptist
University, 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
