EAPS AnnouncementsEAPS Council ElectionsThe elections for the new EAPS Council 2026-2028 will take place from 15-31 May 2026. All members of EAPS can take part in these elections if their membership is fully paid, so make sure that your account is up to date! The electronic ballot will be sent by Simply Voting. To make sure that you will not miss the ballot, you are advised to add vote@simplyvoting.com to your list of safe senders to improve deliverability of the emails. You are also advised to double-check your spam/junk folder if you cannot find the ballot email. Keep an eye on your email and cast your votes in the EAPS Council Elections! EPC 2026 Opening CeremonyThe Opening Ceremony of EPC 2026 will take place in Palazzo Re Enzo in the historical centre of Bologna and will be followed by the Welcome Reception. The Opening starts at 17.30 hrs and has limited capacity. Plan to arrive early! The Palazzo is a unique venue but, for safety reasons, can only accommodate 750 participants. Tickets for the Opening Ceremony were distributed on a "first registered, first served" basis. If you were among the first to register you will be informed by email and at the Registration Desk in the Belmeloro venue. Plan to register early at the Belmeloro desk and then arrive early at the Palazzo to avoid long waiting at the entrance. Memorial Moment at EPC 2026Inspired by suggestions from members, the Council has decided to introduce a Memorial Moment in the Opening Ceremony of the upcoming European Population Conference 2026 in Bologna. At this occasion we will take time to remember colleagues who are dearly missed by our community. Every member who wishes to share the passing of a colleague in the population field who passed away in recent years (say since the previous European Population Conference 2024) is invited to write to us at eaps@nidi.nl mentioning the name, dates of birth and passing, affiliation and/or country of residence of the deceased. While the Memorial Moment at the Opening Ceremony will have to be short, any other information about the deceased may be shared at the EAPS website. EPC 2026 Pre-Conference ProgramVisiting the EPC Pre-Conference program is an excellent opportunity to start your conference. We are lucky to have a great set of activities on Wednesday June 3rd in the Belmeloro venue, starting from 9.00. Almost all events are open to participants, and include a variety of workshops and meeting. Several of these events are organized by EAPS Working Groups, so this is also a great opportunity to get to know their activities. Check the program website! EAPS Booth at EPC 2026EAPS has a booth at the EPC 2026 Exhibition and is happy to share this with the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP). National Population Associations/Societies who wish to share information at the EAPS booth are welcome to do so. They should bring their materials themselves to Bologna and remove these after the conference! Please let us know at EAPS@nidi.nl if you want to make use of this offer. Presenting at EPC 2026EPC 2026 is just around the corner and we can imagine that authors are busy preparing their presentations. For a smooth conference experience, authors should be aware that they should bring their presentation to the session on a memory stick, usb or flash drive and connect this to the onsite computer. It is NOT possible to make your presentation using your own laptop or to connect your laptop to the onsite computer! Authors are advised to also send their presentation to the Chair of their session. The time for presentations varies per session. In sessions with 5 presentations, each presenter has 12 minutes. If your session has 4 presentations, this may be 15 minutes. Presentations in Flash sessions are 5 minutes. Always check with the Session Chair about the timing and order of presentations. Do keep within the allotted time! Chairs are asked to strictly monitor this. Note that in the Flash Sessions at EPC 2026 there are NO posters. Flash presenters are advised to use not more than 5 slides. In all sessions, the discussion from the floor will be moderated by the Chair; there are no Discussants at EPC 2026. For this and other information, check the Frequently Asked Questions at the EPC 2026 website! Phishing Emails and EPC 2026It has come to our attention that you may receive phishing emails regarding travel and booking options in Bologna. These emails do not have any relation with EAPS or the EPC 2026 conference. All our valid emails are sent by epc2026@nidi.nl or epc2026@popconf.org European Journal of PopulationThe European Journal of Population (EJP) is the flagship journal of EAPS.
