LifeStream Receives Technology First Accreditation

LifeStream has earned their Technology First Accreditation from Technology First SHIFT, an online education and accreditation platform that is advancing and standardizing best practices and programming to help people with disabilities live as independently as possible through the successful adoption of technology.

Organizations earning SHIFT’s highest level of recognition complete comprehensive education requirements and undergo a rigorous evaluation process.

“After launching the program, we quickly realized the importance that technology was going to play in the daily lives of those we support,” said Melissa Pepin, Director of AET and Therapy Services. “Using SHIFT’s person-centered approach to technology solutions, we are all working toward the same thing - to help people with disabilities live the lives they want to live. Our partnership with Technology First SHIFT serves as both a guide and a resource for the successful adoption, implementation and sustainability of technology. With systems and processes in place, we know that technology is highly effective in helping people increase independence and achieve successful outcomes.”

Congratulations to Melissa and her team for achieving this impressive milestone.

LifeStream Earns Three-Year Accreditation from CARF

LifeStream has been accredited for another three-year period by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its community services, community integration programs, and service to medically fragile populations.

CARF is an independent, not-for-profit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through an accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the individuals the organization supports.

This marks the eleventh consecutive three-year accreditation that CARF has awarded to LifeStream. It is the highest level of accreditation that can be earned. The areas of strength for LifeStream noted in their summary include:

  • Providing person-centered services and supports based on the preferences of the persons served. Day program employees are trained to assist individuals in the activities of their choice, as well as participate in community activities.
  • LifeStream promotes technology throughout the organization and is active in providing individuals with assistive technology tools and services.
  • Day programs for persons with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has remained current with research and evidence-based practices. The ongoing presence of a psychologist and therapists on-site has contributed to the quality of the programming and the delivery of services and supports.
  • Individuals supported by LifeStream are at the heart of the organizations. Leadership and management teams demonstrate a commitment to prioritizing their needs through strategic planning and an emphasis on choice and inclusion.

“It takes a great deal of hard work, commitment and dedication to earn this accreditation and receive such positive affirmation of our efforts,” said LifeStream President/CEO Bonnie Mello. “I want to commend and thank everyone throughout our organization, as well as our Board of Directors, for making LifeStream a leader in the field of human services.”
