Book Week Parade & Meet and Greet, What a Wonderful Success!
We are delighted to share that last week was a wonderful celebration of books, learning and community at our school. Our Book Week Parade and Meet and Greet with Parents and Grandparents were a tremendous success!
Our students looked fantastic in their creative costumes, bringing their favourite book characters to life with plenty of colour, imagination and enthusiasm. It was wonderful to see their excitement as they shared their favourite stories with our school community.
A special highlight of Book Week was welcoming Australian author Julia Lawrinson, who visited some of our classrooms and shared her love of books and storytelling with our students. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to meet an author and hear about the inspiration behind her stories.
We were also thrilled to welcome our grandparents, who enjoyed a special tour of the school and had the opportunity to see our learning spaces and experience a little of what school life is like for their grandchildren.
Our students also prepared a short choir performance for our visiting grandparents, adding a lovely musical touch to the occasion.
A heartfelt thank you to all the parents and grandparents who joined us. Your presence and enthusiasm helped make the day memorable for our students and strengthened the wonderful sense of community we share at our school.
It was a joyful celebration of books, learning and the special connections between generations.
2026 House Athletics Carnival
What a wonderful day we had at our 2026 Athletics Carnival. It was fantastic to see our students getting involved, encouraging one another and showing such great enthusiasm throughout the day.
Congratulations to our winning faction and well done to every student who participated. The effort, determination and positive attitude shown throughout the day were something to be proud of.
A sincere thank you to Brandon Porcaro for his exceptional organisation, dedication and commitment. His hard work helped make the carnival such a successful and enjoyable event for everyone.
We are also very grateful to the Dianella Soccer Club for generously allowing us to use their oval. It provided a fantastic space for our students to participate, compete and enjoy the day. Our focus on participation gave every student the opportunity to be involved and put their skills into practice. It was wonderful to see students challenging themselves, supporting their peers and demonstrating excellent sportsmanship.
A big thank you to our P&C for providing the cake stall, sausages, burgers and coffee van. Your support and contribution helped create such a welcoming atmosphere for our school community. We would also like to recognise our staff for their teamwork and commitment. There were many roles to coordinate throughout the day, and everyone's willingness to help made a huge difference.
Finally, thank you to all our parents and carers who came along, volunteered and cheered from the sidelines. Your encouragement and support made the day even more special for our students.
Our 2026 Athletics Carnival was a fantastic celebration of participation, perseverance, teamwork and community. We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented Coolbinia and supported each other throughout the day. Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a memorable occasion.
Kindy Artists at Work
Kindy Yellow and Green have continued their learning following NAIDOC Week last term by exploring the richness of Aboriginal stories, artwork and traditions.
The children have been inspired by the stories and artwork they have explored and have enjoyed creating their own pieces, experimenting with colours, patterns and ideas.
It has been wonderful to see their creativity and enthusiasm shine through as they proudly share their artwork with others.
We certainly have some very talented little artists in Kindy! 🙂
OSHC Term 3 Fun, Creativity and Adventure
We have had a fantastic start to Term 3 at OSHC! It has been busy, exciting and full of never-ending fun, creativity and adventure.
This week, we celebrated Book Week and loved seeing everyone dressed up as their favourite book characters. It was wonderful to see so many creative, colourful and imaginative costumes! Next week, we will be celebrating Science Week, diving into the world of science with fun, hands-on activities and exciting experiments each day.
Looking for fun and engaging activities these spring school holidays? Camp Australia’s Spring School Holiday Program is now open for bookings! With plenty of exciting activities planned, there will be lots of opportunities for children to stay active, entertained and have fun throughout the holidays. See flyer below.
Plus, don’t miss Dr Karl on 26 August! This special event is open to all families in our school community, including current families, families enrolled for next year and families who don’t currently use OSHC. See Flyer below.
Our Big Art Competition is also currently open! The competition finishes at the end of August, so there is still plenty of time to get creative and showcase your artistic talents. Please see an OSHC staff member to collect an entry form. We can’t wait to see what the rest of Term 3 brings! Here’s to more fun, creativity, discovery and exciting adventures at OSHC!
A ‘zine created by our students
Today, a special ‘zine will be going home with every student in the school!
Created through a series of workshops in collaboration with the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure, and Soldaria, our students shared their ideas about how we can build a better, more active city for young people and for everyone!
Their ideas and perspectives have been brought together in this fantastic ‘zine, which celebrates the creativity and thoughtful contributions of our students.
We encourage you to take a few minutes to read through it with your child and, most importantly, have a listen to their ideas. You might just be surprised by what they have to say! We hope you enjoy discovering their vision for a more active and connected city.
Food for Thought
In almost all cultures, grandparents are transmitters of experience and wisdom through oral tradition and affection. They unify the family environment and provide children with security and values that influence their character, profession, and beliefs. Their role as co educators is growing, especially as parents face time constraints. Grandparents offer love, confidence, and a safe environment, often spending more quality time with their grandchildren than anyone else.
