Bridge development happening at pace

There mightn’t be much activity on the sites yet, but work on the three new pedestrian bridges in the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor is progressing at pace behind the scenes.
Shop drawings  have been completed, and the design of temporary works and the relocation of services is under way.

Staff profile: Alex Perrott

Position: Ranger Supervisor, Residential Red Zone Team
Day to day I: manage up to 12 rangers and temporary staff, arrange maintenance, and infrastructure and vegetation removal.
What I enjoy about my job: Every day’s different. I like organising  people and the operational side, and being outside.
Favourite area: The Waikākāriki (Horseshoe Lake) area. I can imagine the ecological restoration in that reserve being widespread throughout the whole OARC.
My dream for the former residential red zones is:  large ecologically restored areas and more established community gardens.
On weekends you'll find me: surfing, hiking or mountain biking.

LINZ starts surveying the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor

Because the corridor area is so vast, Crown-owned land has been divided into 29 areas, with the first few now being surveyed by Land Information New Zealand (LINZ).
