Welcome to the August edition of the Queensland Mental Health Week (QMHW) eNews! We've got some big updates to share with Queensland Mental Health Week right around the corner.

 

The QMHW merch store is now open, grant winners have been announced, and now's your last chance to be part of our early bird giveaway by registering a QMHW event.

Merch store now open

Our 2024 merchandise is now available. Show your support for good mental health for all Queenslanders with awareness ribbons, T-Shirts, and more.

 

Green lapel ribbons are available on the QMHW website and T-Shirts and homewares are available through our merch partner website.

Over 150 grants awarded for QMHW events!

We’re thrilled to announce that $158,000 in community grants have been allocated to over 150 organisations across Queensland to support grassroots mental health and wellbeing events during Queensland Mental Health Week!

 

Funded by the Queensland Mental Health Commission and administered by CheckUP Australia, these grants will make a real difference across the state, with events happening from Coen to Caboolture!

QMHW Achievement Awards

Nominations have officially closed, and judging has commenced for the 2024 Queensland Mental Health Week Achievement Awards.

 

Finalists of the 11 award categories will be announced in early September and winners will be recognised at a ceremony held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre at 7am on Friday 11 October.

Recovered Futures Art Exhibition: Exhibiting artists notified

Curation and selection has now been finalised for the 2024 Recovered Futures Art Exhibition. 189 artists with lived mental health experience and over 250 works will be showcased during the week-long exhibition.


Showcasing a diverse array of visual works from artists with lived mental health experience, the week-long exhibition will take over King George Square from the 4 to 10 October.

Participate in research: Social inclusion and psychosis

Help improve functional outcomes for people with mental ill-health. Orygen is researching how people living with psychosis experience social cognition and inclusion.

 

They are inviting people aged 25 to 65 who are living with a psychotic illness to share their experience. Participants will be reimbursed for their time.

SANE Forums

It can be difficult engaging in face to face supports when you’re living with mental health issues. The SANE Forums are an online space where you can connect with others without the pressure some people experience with in-person support.
