The Simeon Quay pump station is looking great, with decorative cabbage tree art work now sandblasted onto the exterior of the building. We're looking forward to putting the finishing touches to the Governors Bay pump station, once Jetty Road is re-opened at the end of next month. Over the hill, the 4.5 km Heathcote Valley pipeline is almost complete. We will commission this new section of pipeline once the Simeon Quay pump station is complete. An update on Simeon QuayWhat have we recently completed? The pump station structure has been completed with waterproofing of the roof and installation of the ceiling. The decorative cabbage tree art work has also been sandblasted onto the front of the building. We've fitted the external doors and finished the electrical work. Site works for the generator and pumps have been completed and we have finished excavation work for two surge vessels (large tanks) at the tunnel end of the building. What’s coming up?Mechanical pipework for the pump station and new underground power utilities are under progress. We expect to pour concrete for the foundations of the surge vessels by mid-July. Next month, we plan to install these vessels and begin work on the remaining wastewater pipelines on-site and in Simeon Quay. Night worksAs a part of this work, the new drainage will be installed within the road from Sunday 19 July for approximately two weeks. This work will be carried out at nights (8pm – 6am) and we expect to have stop/go in place to manage traffic. We know night work is disruptive to surrounding residents. We apologise for this disruption and aim to complete this work as quickly as possible. You can click here for more information on the night works. Pedestrian accessWe’re carrying out electrical work at the base of the stairs east of the pump station. These stairs have had their access temporarily realigned and are still open, but there may be minor delays while plant is moved out of the way to manage access. Thanks for your continued patience and understanding. Governors Bay walking track temporarily closingPart of a popular walking track along the Governors Bay foreshore will be closed weekdays for the next two months, from Monday 24 August until the end of October. The track will be open on weekends. The partial closure is necessary because contractors working on the Lyttelton Harbour wastewater project need to lay new pipeline and electrical cabling to connect the Jetty Road pump station with the Governors Bay pump station. This work has been on hold since last year due to the Jetty Road slip. We'll be in touch with more information on the track closure closer to the time. An update on the Heathcote Valley pipelineWe're almost finished installing the 4.5km pipeline that runs through the Heathcote Valley and will connect Lyttelton Harbour's wastewater to the existing pump station in Woolston.
