Highlights of this month’s newsletter include OOR announcements, updates, events, and news from Leatherby Libraries. Be sure to read the entire newsletter to be entered into our August raffle!

New Federal Prohibition of TikTok & ByteDance in Federally-Funded Research

The federal government announced a new contract term that would ban the TikTok app from devices used in the performance of federal government contracts (TikTok Rule). Many states have also prohibited TikTok use related to state activities, and some universities have followed suit.

Chapman plans to deal with implementing the new federal contract term prohibitions on a project-by-project basis. Note, the TikTok prohibition is not applicable to grants or cooperative agreements, most of our awards. Have questions? Contact your SPS representative.

New Protected Health Information Guidance

You can now access, use, and store protected health information (PHI) for your research. See the IRB guidance documents for more information.

New Chapman University AI Hub

Chapman’s new AI hub is a unified website for easy access to newly established intelligence guidelines and a growing repository of resources and up-to-date standards in the AI field to support responsible innovation in Chapman’s usage of AI.
