The staff and I have welcomed lots of faces, both old and new, to the Guild this term and it has been a pleasure to provide a space for learning, connection, and personal development. Written by Norman Robbins, it will be staged at the Guild Theatre this Christmas, we invite you to be part of this festive pantomime. It doesn’t matter if this is your first experience of Writing for Wellbeing. You’ll find your pen has plenty to say. But if you’ve been before, do come again, we’ll include a fresh bunch of exercises, so you can build on what you’ve learned so far.
🎥 This is a dementia friendly screening of 'White Christmas' that Carefound Home Care are hosting this at The Rex cinema in Wilmslow on 13th December. There is no charge to attend however Carefound are raising money to help Macclesfield hospital build a dementia garden. There will be cakes for refreshments before the showing where they just ask for a small donation. 🍄 It's never too late to join a group or club Many thanks to Judith and John for leading our Natural History Society round Alderley Edge last month for their ‘Seasonal Sortie’ in search of fungi and other ‘fruits of the season’

Our Walking Group has a full programme of various grades of walks to suit all abilities, The Group aims to provide friendly and sociable walking Our Film Club meets Wednesday evenings monthly. If you enjoy films and the opportunity to talk about them after viewing you'd be very welcome. A recent new member said: 'I found the Film Club welcoming from the outset. Even though I was on my own, I felt comfortable and able to join in the discussions.' It's informal. It’s sociable. It’s a chance to share your thoughts.

Making your own clothes with a group of friends can be a fun and rewarding experience. It offers a great opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, share knowledge and skills, and create something unique and personal. From a sustainability point of view, making your own clothes will reduce your environmental impact, contributing to a more sustainable future. We love Sarah Ellerby's work, Sarah has been coming to sewing and dressmaking classes at the Guild for a while now. She now also takes in her own seam-stressing work for clothing adjustments. 🌄 Rivers and Mountains course Tuesdays 1.30- 3.30pm This course will investigate five major rivers and five mountain/upland regions of the world. Each river or mountain/upland area will be a weekly stand-alone lecture covering 10 weeks.

Are you an accountant or bookkeeper - retired or still working, could you spare a few hours each month to help Bare Necessities with our books? Our present financial trustee is stepping down so we need to find a replacement. This is rewarding, stimulating and we think worthwhile. We're all fully set up, transactions are low so not too onerous. Requirement to produce quarterly financial report - income / expenditure and attend board meetings 4 times a year. ⭐ Free online reading group Each week, The Reader brings people together at Shared Reading groups across the UK. These groups are free, and for everyone. At Shared Reading groups, a trained Reader Leader selects wonderful stories and poems to read aloud together. On Thursday 19th December we have an online taster session to introduce you to the Reader with the view to establish a face to face group in the near future.
