New research challenges our belief about Indonesia's pre-historic society

The latest research by a group of Indonesian scientists suggests that the oldest pyramid in the world may be built in Indonesia, not in Egypt.

The research, published in the journal Archaeological Prospection and based on a four-year-old survey,  indicates that Indonesia's pre-historic humans constructed conical monuments inside a hill known as Gunung Padang in West Java during the Palaeolithic period.

The latest article from The Conversation Indonesia also shares the new research discovering the genetic history and cultural heritage of Indigenous People, the Punan Batu people, in North Kalimantan.

The finding sheds light how the Punan Batu people remain isolated despite them being the descendants of hunters and gatherers.

To anticipate the proliferation of misinformation and disinformation during the campaign, The Conversation Indonesia (TCID) has set up a fact-checking expert panel of our authors.

Recently, the initiative has received support from The Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) with a grant from the Open Society Foundation to collaborate with two other reputable media - Tempo and Kompas - to amplify the project's impact.

We plan to launch this collaboration soon. If you are an academic or researcher, you can join the panel by registering via this link.
