Click here Diabetes information videos:Life does not stop with type 1 diabetes: A new series of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) videos has been released for families living with Type 1 Diabetes, starting with short information videos in Hindi and Punjabi. The resources were made with assistance from Perth Children's Hospital’s Endocrinology and Diabetes team and families living with T1D.
Flu season is here!It's that time of year again... time to get your child's free flu vaccination. This year eligible WA children aged 2-11 years can access the FluMist, an intranasal spray vaccine. From now, the vaccine is available through Community Health Immunisation clinics, the PCH Stan Perron Immunisation Centre, GPs, Aboriginal Medical Services and pharmacies.
DiabHQ UpdateIt’s hard to believe that the DiabHQ app has been available to WA families living with T1D for over 6 months already! The innovative, digital platform, was launched on World Diabetes Day last November. Since then, the DiabHQ team have been adding new features and making the app even better. Over 450 parents, carers & kids are now using the app to see their appointments and health information, to find resources and access support. Setting smartphone rulesIt is important that your child/teenager and you are on the same page with smart phone use and rules. We know mobile phones are an important part of navigating type 1 diabetes, so to help you set some family rules, we asked the PCH Diabetes Social Work team for their top tips and online tools to help manage phone use at home and school.
We need your voice!We are looking for more community members to help with our exciting next phase of the DiabHQ mobile app, a 'one-stop-shop' for families' diabetes needs. Are you a young person living with T1D? Or living in a regional area and a parent of a child with T1D? We’re looking for young people (aged 16 – 21 years) and regionally located parents and carers to join our Consumer Reference Group (CRG). All members will be reimbursed for their time.
Opal 2 StudyWould you or your child like to experience using the Omnipod 5 patch pump? We are looking for participants aged 2 – 24 years, who have been living with T1D for more than 12 months and are currently using either insulin injections or tubed insulin pump to manage their diabetes.
GATEWAY StudyWould you like the opportunity to trial a new insulin pump? The research team are looking for participants aged 7–17 years old, living with T1D to participate in the GATEWAY study using an investigational Minimed/Medtronic new pump, with control app on a Smartphone.
T1D and Sports CompetitionsDo you train and compete in sport? A team from Curtin University and The Kids Research Institute Australia want to observe the impact of competition stress on blood glucose by comparing blood glucose levels, management strategies, and psychological stress in sports competitions vs training.
