As always, the Office of Graduate Research is here to support you through all stages of your HDR journey. Professor Timothy Cavagnaro W H A T ' S N E W Update your details As we begin a new semester please ensure your contact details, such as address, phone and email are up to date so you don’t miss any important communication. You can update your information in the My Details area in the Student System. If you need to change any other personal information but unable to in the My Details section, please visit or contact Flinders Connect. International students – it’s important your contact details are current. Please also check your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and visa dates are valid for 2026. Take early action if anything needs to be addressed. The International Student Services team can support you.
HDR Connect We are excited to share that a brand‑new HDR Connect Home Page is now live — your central hub for everything HDR! This refreshed space brings all HDR Connect channels, sessions, and resources together in one easy‑to‑navigate location. No more hunting across platforms or juggling links — it is all right at your fingertips. To help take the pressure off your inbox, the weekly HDR Bulletin news will now be posted on the Home Page instead of via email. Make sure you follow the page to stay informed.
HDR Online Induction Are you a new HDR Student? The 2026 HDR Online Induction is now available, providing you with the most up to date content, resources and information to help you get started with your research project. All new students are required to complete the online induction, and existing students and supervisors are welcome to enrol to access relevant and up-to-date information and resources.
Library's new Document Delivery system Flinders Library is launching a new Document Delivery system on 3 February 2026. Document Delivery is our inter-library loan service, allowing you to request books, journal articles, and other materials that are not already available through Flinders Library. The new system will replace our current platform, Relais. It will deliver a more efficient, streamlined, and transparent service for all users, with all requesting, tracking, and downloads.
NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarships - prospective applicants info session If you have a growing track record of research experience and outputs, you may be eligible to apply for the prestigious National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Postgraduate Scholarships Scheme. Join the information session on 25 February (online) led by Flinders' Research Development and Support team, which will provide a comprehensive overview of the NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarship scheme to help you decide if it’s the right opportunity for you.
HDR Student International Internship Travel Grant The University has established the Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Student International Internship Travel Grant to provide funding (up to $5,000) towards overseas trips for HDR students for the purpose of contributing to, or completing, an eligible internship with an international industry partner.
Laura Bassi Scholarship The Laura Bassi Scholarship was established in 2018 with the aim of providing editorial assistance to postgraduates and junior academics whose research focuses on neglected topics of study, broadly construed, within their disciplines. The scholarships, awarded thrice per annum, are awarded to enrolled master’s and doctoral students / candidates, and academics in the first five years of full-time employment. There are no institutional, departmental, or national restrictions. Applications for the next round of funding close on 8 March 2026. Online Research Methodology Lectures - Instats Affiliate Status The Library organised an Affiliate Status with the Instats organisation, which is facilitating an expert-led training for PhD and post-PhD researchers across a broad range of fields, methods, and theoretical orientations. The Affiliate Status allows our researchers to receive a 30% discount on an extensive range of 350+ On-Demand and Livestream

Whether you're looking to book an appointment, explore wellbeing programs, get academic or personal support, or connect with student communities, this overview helps you quickly find what you need. It’s a great link to share with new or continuing students who may not realise just how much support is available.

An Overview of R Information Session Ready to enhance your research capabilities? R is quickly gaining popularity as a programming language of choice for statisticians, data scientists, and researchers. While getting started can feel daunting - especially if you’re new to programming - this session will introduce researchers and HDR students to the basics of R, along with the training and support available to help you get underway.
HDR Supervision: Core part 2 Workshop New to HDR supervision or keen to refresh your understanding of the fundamentals? Join the Dean of Graduate Research and fellow HDR supervisors for a collaborative workshop focused on effective supervision practice. This session builds on the Core Part 1 module and explores Flinders specific resources, expectations, and guidelines to support your role.
HDR Induction Seminar Are you a new HDR student in 2026? The HDR Induction Seminar is the second part of the mandatory HDR induction process. You’ll have the chance to meet and connect with fellow HDR students over coffee, and hear from the Dean of Graduate Research, staff from the Office of Graduate Research, and current and past students who will share their experiences in a panel discussion. We are also working with Yungkurrinthi to include a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony as part of the event, with further details to be confirmed.
