MEMBER PROFILE

Meet Dr Kelechi Ibeh

SWHPN member Dr Kelechi Ibeh is a Medical Practitioner whose interest spans across General Practice, Emergency Medicine and Psychiatry which is why he chose the Rural Generalist pathway as it gives him an opportunity to do a bit of everything in medicine in a rural community.

Kelechi was born in Nigeria and migrated to Australia in 2013. Prior to this he worked in the Oil and Gas industry for 15 years. After completing his medical degree, he moved to South Australia for his internship, residency and later moved to Bunbury. "From the age of twelve I have always wanted to be a doctor". His desire for medicine was to help people in his community in a poor resourced health care system.

Kelechi and his family love the South West with its amazing beaches, caves, good food and friendly people. He loves the peace and tranquillity of the environment away from heavy traffic in the city. "It reminds me of the rural community I grew up in".

Kelechi is passionate about helping and building his community on the foundation of social justice and equality and has participated in various community and youth development projects.
