What's On April 2015

It’s Autumn and as always, Central is turning golden. Somehow the skies here look even bluer when set against this glorious gold. These
amazing glowing colours make you want to pull out the camera to capture the ‘biscuit tin beautiful’ scenery that we are famous for. Even though it's gorgeous here it must seem totally surreal to our Vanuatuan workforce here in Central (I believe there are 400 or so) when their country is in ruins after the terrible cyclone Pam ravaged their island home. I attended the wonderful charity concert held in Alexandra last week which raised an amazing $10,000 for them in one night! Please dig deep people and donate if you can, to help them rebuild their lives over there.
Our Art on the Rail Trail
has been very successful, with some good sales recorded and great feedback from the cyclists who have enjoyed the artwork. This means we'll do it again next year and work hard to grow this fledgling event into something to look forward to on our annual cultural calendar. Until now, all these bikers have missed out on seeing the wealth of talent produced by our local artists, so we thought it was a good idea to put it right under their noses, all along the trail from Clyde to Middlemarch.
If you are a budding photographer, then you may like to consider signing-up for a photography workshop on offer in Queenstown. This seems such a fantastic opportunity to glean wisdom from world renowned photographer, David Oliver.
See below for the very freshest of offerings from around the region for April with exhibitions (especially over Easter), music and three local festivals to enjoy; Wanaka's Festival of Colour, Arrowtown's Autumn Festival and Clyde's Wine and Foods Harvest Festival; we are truly spoilt for choice.
