We are excited to share images of the detailed designs for both jetties. Based on the designs released in the Warneet Maritime Precinct Plan (2021), we’ve worked closely with key stakeholders and completed essential heritage and geological studies to refine the plans. This has helped ensure that the designs align with community preferences, meet all statutory requirements, and support our goals for constructability and sustainability. We’ll keep you updated over the coming months as we finalise preparations and permits. Warneet South Jetty features: · The new Warneet South Jetty will feature durable steel piles and a 2.6-metre-wide timber deck, creating a classic maritime style structure. · The existing pontoon and gangway will be preserved, providing ample berthing for vessels as well as for fishing, walking and public enjoyment. · Public safety remains a top priority, with modern handrails included in the design. Additionally, walkway lighting will improve safety for pedestrians and boaters while minimising the impact on aquatic life. Warneet North Jetty features: · The new Warneet North Jetty will be built with durable steel piles, a 1.8-metre-wide fibreglass reinforced plastic (FRP) deck, providing both durability and connection with the sea. · The design includes two new low-level landings with steps for easier water access. · This new jetty will be a valuable asset to the community, offering enhanced amenities for fishing and boating. · Like the Warneet South Jetty, it will have modern handrails and offer lighting to ensure safety while minimising impacting marine life. Project stages While we can’t provide a detailed construction timeline yet, we’re in the final stages of preparation and securing permits before work begins. Construction will begin once the required materials, permits, and approvals are secured. ![]() Current jetty access For public safety, both jetties are currently closed to pedestrians and vessels due to advanced deterioration. In the meantime, public berthing is available at Tooradin Jetty and Hastings Pier, which are both popular fishing spots.
