Oct. 24, 2024 Lend your expertise by serving as a mentor or preceptor for Summer 2025 diversity student pathway programsEach summer, the Office of Student Inclusion and Diversity at MCW-Milwaukee offers its signature pathway programs to promote diversity in the health sciences and provide an exceptional gateway to biomedical science-related careers. MCW’s summer pathway programs are designed for students from backgrounds that are historically underrepresented in medicine and biomedical research. As we enthusiastically prepare for Summer 2025, we are seeking faculty members to serve as mentors and preceptors for high school, undergraduate and graduate students who participate in:

AIM AIM is an intensive six-week program where high school students participate in a variety of enrichment experiences such as classroom lecture with an introduction to anatomy and physiology, suture clinics, heart dissections, clinical shadowing and team exercises, all taught and facilitated by rising second-year medical students. AIM scholars shadow mentors one day a week from June 23 – Aug. 1, 2025. We are seeking 35 mentors.
ROADS ROADS is a seven-week program where high school students are provided with information about career opportunities in medicine and biomedical research in an invigorating educational environment. ROADS students assist an MCW PI who acts as their mentor on a current research project from June 16 – Aug. 1, 2025. We are seeking 10 mentors.
DSHREP DSHREP is a ten-week program where undergraduate and graduate students are provided with information about career opportunities in medicine and biomedical research in an invigorating educational environment. The intention of this program is to develop an understanding of critical issues in basic science and clinical research. DSHREP is supported through a mix of philanthropic support and grants. Mentors help the DSHREP student develop a scientific abstract of their research project and provide guidance on lab techniques and the overall project from May 27 – Aug. 1, 2025.
