| Upfront guidance – extractives work approvals |

In response to industry and stakeholder feedback during the Better Approvals for Regulators project, we have improved upfront guidance on our website about the work approval process for extractive industries.
|
|
|
The information outlines:

The work plan approval process, from project proposal through to the authority commencing work;
-
Exemptions; and
-
Administrative updates.

| Online licence management system (RMSVIC) |
|
|
Earth Resources Regulation’s new online licensing management system RMSVIC is progressing well, with 64% of the system developed.
|
|
|
|
The project’s Industry Working Group has been provided a demonstration of:
-
The new online Legislative Reports module;
-
How to complete and submit an expenditure and activity report; and
-
The Accounts & Contacts management module, which enables industry to better manage user access and permissions to their tenement records.
Feedback from the sessions will help ensure the design of the new system is easier to use, navigate and find information when it goes live in 2023.

| Preparing quarries on flood plains |
|
|
Comprehensive flood management plans are now in place for priority quarry sites on the flood plain of north eastern Victoria to protect infrastructure, the environment and local communities.
With dams close to full and forecasts of a wet spring, Earth Resources Regulation is focussed on ensuring operators of quarries on flood plains are fully prepared and have adequate measures in place to mitigate any potential flood impacts.
We are working closely with quarry operators, water managers and emergency services to assess flood preparedness across the sector. This includes undertaking regular site inspections and keeping a watchful eye on weather forecasts and local waterways.
