First Nations New Blue Box
Regulation & Transition Webinar

When

Wednesday, July 19, 2023

Time

1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Location

Online

In June 2021, the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) introduced a regulation that makes producers assume full responsibility, including financial, for the Blue Box program in Ontario.

Under the new regulation, First Nation communities have been recognized as deserving special considerations and ultimately greater negotiation control including when and whether to transition their blue box program and/or engage with Circular Materials, the organization representing producers.

To help First Nation communities and Tribal Councils through this process, this webinar is intended to introduce the new Blue Box regulation, roles of key players and First Nation engagement techniques.

Topics to be Covered

  • Introduction to the new Blue Box regulation
  • Overview of the Blue Box transition process
  • Presentations from the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA) and Circular Materials (CM) on their roles as key players in the process
  • First Nations roles, concerns and opportunities
  • Questions

Who Should Attend

This webinar is open to all Ontario First Nation communities and Tribal Councils who want to learn more about the new Blue Box regulation.
