No images? Click here Christmas celebration may be older than we thought Christmas is just around the corner. In Indonesia, where more than 90% of the population is Muslim, Christmas is not really a huge festivity. But you still can see Christmas trees and lights as part of the mall and building decorations during this time of year in Indonesia. In the holiday spirit, we published an analysis revealing that the tradition of celebrating Christmas may date back to 2 century CE, older than what most people believe. Last Tuesday, The Conversation Indonesia (TCID) finally launched a collaboration of our Fact-Check Expert Panel program with two major national media, Kompas.com and Tempo.co, with the support of the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) Indonesia. The collaboration is an expansion of our Fact Check Expert Panel that we have run since September. We hope to optimise our fact-check work with this collaboration before the election year. For more info on the panel, please scroll down. This is the last newsletter that I write for 2023. TCID will close from Dec. 22nd until Jan. 2nd. Happy holidays and see you next year!
Warmest, Ika Krismantari
To anticipate the proliferation of misinformation and disinformation during the campaign, The Conversation Indonesia (TCID) has set up a fact-checking expert panel of our authors. Recently, the initiative has received support from The Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) with a grant from the Open Society Foundation to collaborate with two other reputable media - Tempo and Kompas - to amplify the project's impact. If you are an academic or researcher, you can join the panel by registering via this link.
