BOFA

WELCOME TO THE NEW LOOK BOFA 2022

It's a new year, a new look and a brand spanking new festival coming your way. BOFA has always been about curating films and experiences that move you and stories that make you think, and this year we're embracing that fact like never before. In fact, we're even giving it a name.

Say hello to THE BOFA EFFECT.

Over the coming days, you'll have a front-row seat to the 2022 festival news and program of events, and trust us, it's gonna be a doozy. Get ready to celebrate (did someone say Gastronomic Dinners?) at our new look Launceston Film Festival (29 April – 8 May)– and our Online Film Festival (15 April – 31 May).

BOFA Film Festival 2022 is reinventing itself as a place-based event focused on Launceston as a great regional city of film, visual and performing arts, food and wine.

BOFA 2022 is so much more than just films. How about free musical performances as well as creative activities for children at the award-winning Harvest Market? Then, as night falls, enjoy a pop up cinema film screening with glass in hand.

How about four food and wine events at celebrated restaurants, vineyards and function centres such as Josef Chromy Vineyard matched food and wines dinner and a Museum Aged Wine Tasting dinner and quiz ?

FESTIVAL PROGRAM

Did you catch Lisa Minelli at the Oscars? What a star! Well, we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of her most famous film, Cabaret. It’s our opening night red carpet event on Friday 29th April in Launceston and we are inviting you to look the part in your most decadent outfit. We’ll have cabaret dancers, lashings of bubbles and naughty canapes to get you in the mood for the film.

As Sally Bowles says: “Does it really matter, as long as you’re having fun?”

FIRST NATIONS STORIES

BOFA ONLINE

And who says only women can be valued, be beautiful, be looked at, be famous – be, even, Miss France. Director Ruben Alves takes an amusing yet thought-provoking look at the way society glibly portrays sections of the community as valuable, decorative, or just odd. Yours to enjoy online from the comfort of your living room, with friends, family or solo, when you like, any time of day or night for six weeks (15 April – 31 May).

VISIT NORTHERN TASMANIA IN MAY

May in Launceston and the Tamar Valley is particularly beautiful with autumn leaves and magical twilight. The region also has an amazing range of things to do and see, so we have partnered with the best of these to make your visit even more enjoyable!
