FSLSO Visits FSU Insurance-Days

This past month, the FSLSO staff had the privilege of visiting Florida State University to participate in the 2025 Spring Semester I-Days.

Our team engaged with students in the Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program, offering valuable insights into Florida’s E&S industry and fostering connections with future professionals who may join FSLSO’s fall IGNITE internship program.

Reminder: Parametric Coverage Codes

As a reminder, two new codes were added to SLIP+ last year which include:

  • 1214 - Parametric or Index-Based - Commercial
  • 1215 Parametric or Index-Based - Personal

Parametric or index-based coverages pay pre-determined amounts based on the severity and proximity of a specified event. Any new and renewal policies for this specific coverage must be filed under the new coverage codes.

Both require a disclosure and a diligent effort search, and are taxed and assessed according to the FSLSO tax status codes table.

FSLSO In the Community: Ice Bowl 2025

FSLSO proudly supported Second Harvest of the Big Bend through the annual Tallahassee Ice Bowl, and this year, the “Ice” Bowl truly lived up to its name!

On January 25, the FSLSO team once again volunteered to help host the local disc golf event, which was led by FSLSO’s Information Security Officer and resident disc golfer, James Farmer. Thanks to the collective effort, the event raised $4,173 and collected 1,025 pounds of food to combat hunger in the Tallahassee community.

Special this year was a once-in-a-lifetime winter storm which brought snow to Tallahassee, creating actual ice for the event! Over the past 19 years, the Tallahassee Ice Bowl has generated a total of $73,983 and 26,681 pounds of food in contributions. We are incredibly proud of our staff’s unwavering commitment to making a positive impact!
