How social media become the latest battlefield in Indonesia's 2024 elections

Indonesia will hold its general and presidential elections in February  2024. 

Just 14 months before voters are scheduled to swarm the polling booths, the public has started to make a fuss about their candidates on social media. It seems that social media have become the latest battlefield for politicians to win the election.

Our latest article discusses the role of social media in helping candidates win the elections. Based on research on female political candidates running in the 2019 election in sharia-based Aceh province, the article shows how the female candidates used social media to increase their chances of winning the election by boosting their religious images.
