A recent report by Unicef - the UN agency for children - shows that one in every three Nigerians under the age of five is experiencing severe child food poverty. This translates into about 11 million children. Health researcher Blessing Akombi-Inyang unpacks the health implications, which includes stunted growth and development, increased susceptibility to diseases and higher mortality rates.

Some wasp species, known as social wasps, live in groups of up to 7,000 individuals. They can wreak havoc on ecosystems if they reach countries beyond their natural range and establish populations there. There are two such invasive social wasp species in South Africa’s Western Cape province - and keeping track of them is a challenge.
