Chapman Radio 

Fall semester scheduling is in full swing! Chapman Radio is the most popular club on campus and we have the numbers to prove it. We have 75 new DJs, close to 100 returning DJs, and 78 shows. Tuning into Chapman Radio at any time of the day will provide you with excellent student programming. Speaking of which, the way you tune into Chapman Radio is either by going to www.chapmanradio.live or by downloading our app on either the Apple of Android stores. If a show chooses to broadcast via video, you can go to our Chapman Radio YouTube channel.

Lastly, the DJs are in the midst of submitting their audio samples to the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System’s Conference and Award Ceremony. Stay posted for which shows are nominated this year and will be going to New York City at the beginning of March.

Faculty Spotlight

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Vikki Katz for having been selected as the Fletcher Jones Chair in Free Speech! The Fletcher Jones Chair in Free Speech was created to recognize and support a faculty member whose teaching and scholarship focus on free speech and civil discourse. Over the years, Dr. Katz has focused extensively on the intersection of free speech, civil discourse, and equitable access to civic engagement opportunities, addressing how the digital divide and technology engagement impact both young people’s and adults’ ability to fully participate in civic life. We cannot wait to see her excel in this position. Congratulations!

Internship Spotlight - Arielle Lee '25

Arielle Lee '25 is a strategic communication major who had the opportunity to intern at Fashion Week Hause, a creative marketing agency, as a marketing and graphic design intern this past summer. Her primary roles were to manage the agency's Instagram and TikTok platforms and utilize her photojournalism skills to edit the lighting and focal points of each image and video posted on their account. Arielle was even lucky enough to pursue her interest in product design! She was able to help design the VIP gift bags for California Style Week. Read more about her internship in the fashion industry below.

The Segerstrom Center for the Arts has launched the application for Paid Spring 2025 Academic Internships. All internships are arts administration-based and offer a great opportunity to explore the field and its career pathways. Here are the internship opportunities available this spring:

• Community Engagement (1 intern)
• Development/Fundraising (2 interns: Individual Giving and Development Operations)
• Education (1 intern)
• Marketing & Communications (5 interns:  Digital Marketing, General Marketing, Graphic Design, Public Relations, and Social Media)

• Richard Nixon Foundation Research Intern - **This internship is in partnership with the Presidential Studies Program at Chapman University and the Richard Nixon Foundation. The internship will take place physically at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in Yorba Linda, CA.**

We seek a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Intern to join our team. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in American history, political science, and archival research. The successful candidate will support various Foundation programs, assist with communications efforts, and contribute to managing archival materials.

• TMG Studios - Social Media Intern (Paid)

TMG Studios is a production company that produces the award winning podcast, Tiny Meat Gang, as well as Brooke and Connor Make a Podcast, Zach and Wahlid Show, Company Lot, and Obsessed with Brooke Averick. They create, produce, and distribute video and audio podcasts, as well as other shoulder content, for a large and ever growing audience.

Overview:

TMG is seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join their team as a Social Media Intern. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in social media marketing, content creation, and community engagement. As a Social Media Intern, you will collaborate with our Social Media team to develop and execute social media strategies across various platforms to increase brand awareness and drive engagement.

• OC Riptide - Collegiate Baseball Marketing Intern 

The Orange County Riptide, a collegiate wood bat summer baseball team playing games at the Great Park in Irvine, California, seeks interns with strong knowledge and understanding of marketing, public relations and increasing awareness of a sports team.

Interns will propose potential campaigns to raise awareness in the community, the media, email campaigns and organic social media. Creating, planning and execution of special theme night calendar is also expected from the staff. Engagement with community groups will help increase attendance as a direct relationship of the internship team's efforts.

You should be prepared to work in a fast-paced, supportive team environment and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of marketing.

Interns chosen for this position will need strong critical thinking skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, take direction easily and quickly and have a passion for the sport of college baseball.

Get involved with the Center for Undergraduate Excellence (CUE)

Call for Abstracts! Student Scholar Symposium - Abstract Submission Deadline, Sunday, November 1, 2024 

The Center for Undergraduate Excellence will start accepting abstract submissions for the Spring Student Scholar Symposium on October 6.  The symposium is a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to present their research or creative projects to the Chapman community through a poster or oral presentations. The Student Scholar Symposium will be held on December 4-5, 2024.

Students across ALL disciplines are encouraged to participate and experience a showcase of projects from diverse academic and creative disciplines.
