For some time now, antagonistic narratives have pitted millennials against baby boomers. Young people today do nothing but brunch while their older relatives are too busy refurbishing their second homes to notice that the world is on fire – or so it goes.
Social scientist and peace envoy Bobby Duffy wants both sides to stand down from this war. Important changes do happen across generations of humans, he argues, but we’re spending too much time squabbling about culture wars to notice.
Another important difference has emerged between the nations of the UK when it comes to pandemic management. This time, Scotland has taken a more aggressive path on vaccine passports. Meanwhile, COVID appears to have ended the career of Yoshihide Suga, the Japanese premier, after only a year in office.
