A publication date/ announcement from Scottish Government is expected to be imminent. We will keep SAAB members informed as and when we receive any new information. Welcome to our new SAAB members!With all five SAAB groups now with newly refreshed Terms of Reference, we’ve set a goal of 70% employer representation collectively across all the groups. Thank you to all our SAAB members who have reached out to their own networks to help bolster membership and recruit some new faces to SAAB – helping to replace those who have moved on or plug gaps in representation from key sectors. New Skills Minister to meet with SAAB ChairsThe SAAB Chairs will meet with the new Skills Minister to introduce the work of SAAB and outline our long-term objectives to build a world-class, employer-led apprenticeship system in Scotland. SAAB Information CallsThe next SAAB Information Call will take place on 29 June and this session will look at the topic of labour market information: how this is gathered by Skills Development Scotland and how it is used to help shape services. Look out for a calendar invite coming your way - remember that these calls are optional so you can just indicate your attendance by accepting/ declining. Apprenticeships and programmes for 2023/24Skills Development Scotland (SDS) has issued contract awards for Modern Apprenticeship delivery for the next financial year 2023/24. This supports delivering up to 25,500 new apprenticeship starts in 2023/24 for businesses and individuals across Scotland, which is a year-on-year increase in value and volume. Apprenticeship Annual StatisticsSkills Development Scotland has published the Q4 Modern Apprenticeships statistics, showing that more than 25,000 new Modern Apprenticeships were created by Scotland’s employers in the past year, surpassing the Scottish Government ambition. There were 25,447 Modern Apprenticeship starts from April 2022 to March 2023, which is at 93% of pre-pandemic levels, showing employer demand for critical skills.
