Telstra is excited to announce our new digital inclusion and disaster preparedness resource, developed in partnership with Justice Connect, an organisation that helps people and not-for-profit organisations navigate the law.
The resource is a response to an overwhelming need for people with minimal digital skills to be better prepared for managing insurance-related issues in the aftermath of a natural disaster.
If you do experience a disaster and need to make an insurance claim, it can be helpful to have an ‘inventory’ or list of your important belongings. This can make the claims process quicker and easier, and help you remember what to claim, saving you time and stress.
This may seem like a big task for many people with limited digital skills, but the resource shows how easy it can be. It features six short, engaging videos that step through the process and teach people how to prove what they own:
-
Use a camera to take photos or videos.
-
Zoom in and show important details clearly.
-
Capture extra details by saying them out loud in a video or writing them down.
-
Save photos and videos safely and securely and keep a backup copy.
-
Update their digital inventory for the future.
