By now you have received your first CIF Municipal Disbursement.

As a reminder, with the pending transition of the Blue Box program to 100% producer responsibility starting in 2023, the Continuous Improvement Fund (CIF) will be slowly winding up its operations.

Per the CIF’s windup plan, we will be disbursing our surplus reserve funds back to the local communities who contributed to CIF through the Steward Obligation over the past fifteen years.

• The first disbursement distributed $1M of our surplus funds in December 2021.
• The intention of this payment is to support your transition but there are no restrictions on its use.
• Please share this bulletin within your departments and finance departments, as needed.
• There will be additional disbursements in the coming years.
