Good afternoon,

This morning, the US Department of Commerce and Census Bureau released the monthly Import/Export data for November 2022. Imported shipments totaled 2,945,700 barrels, down more than 340,000 barrels (-10.4%) compared to November 2021. Mexican imported beer accounts for nearly 80% of total imported shipments, and as such, contributed to much of the decline for the latest available data. Mexican imported shipments declined by -11.7%, while Dutch imports had less drastic declines, down -4.8% compared to November 2021. What complicates these trends is that November 2021 was an equally soft month, with trends down -6.1% for total imports. However, at this time last year, Mexican imports were still in the black, up 2.1% compared to November 2020.

Despite this downward trend and slowing of growth in recent months, year-to-date shipments remain positive, up 2.7% for the months of January through November of 2022 compared to the same months last year.
