![]() From the HeadmasterDear Scotch Community, This week at Scotch marks the celebration of NAIDOC week at Scotch. While nationally it was celebrated between the 6 –13 July, due to our calendar and vacation break, each year we celebrate this during the second week of Winter Term. This year is a special celebration as it marks the 50th year since its inception. This year’s theme celebrates the achievements of the past and looks forward to a future shaped by the strength of young Indigenous leaders, the vision of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and the legacy of their ancestors. It also recognises the unique experiences of First Nations people with disability. Our college has a long history of Indigenous graduates, most of whom have benefited from scholarship opportunities, and our new strategic alliance with Clontarf is aimed at ensuring we continue to make an impact through continuing to graduate Indigenous students who can make a difference to their own community, and the wider community into which they graduate. This work ties in beautifully with the theme of NAIDOC Week in 2025 being, The next generation: Strength, vision, and legacy. Our college recently prepared a series of videos involving the reflections of a few students who have been able to attend Scotch through the generosity of financial support in the form of scholarships and bursaries across different areas. One student is Dallmyn Kelly, now one of our Year 12 boys who is part of our Indigenous student programme operated by the Clontarf Academy. Listen here to Dallmyn's reflection on what coming to our college means. Scotch College was founded on the concept of giving forward and over our history many students and families have been able to access our great College through the support of individuals or corporate connections. We would love to speak to anyone interested in supporting our Clontarf students into the future. As term gets under way, in addition to NAIDOC week celebrations, there will be a lot of activity across all sub schools. I look forward to seeing and meeting with everyone as the term unfolds.
