Grants and Contracts Team Restructure (GCO)

All MCW departments now have a dedicated GCO Grants Supervisor as their primary contact for grants-related matters. Supervisors will coordinate Analyst support and provide oversight across all sponsor types (excluding for-profit, managed by Contracts). This structure strengthens stewardship, ensures consistency, and aligns with MCW’s research goals. The Department of Surgery has been assigned to Chelsea Hamilton.

Lynn Cummings will be your point of contact as the liaison between Surgery and GCO/Chelsea Hamilton.

Please reach out to Lynn before contacting GCO for grant-related matters.

Emergency Use Requests

Access to Investigational Drugs, Devices and Biologics for Patients

FDA regulations ordinarily require prior approval from FDA and an IRB for research use of an unapproved or "investigational" drug, biologic, or device. Exceptions to this rule apply in very limited cases, including life-threatening emergencies.

This page describes the circumstances when emergency use is appropriate along with the process and procedures at MCW and Froedtert Health that must be followed before or immediately following an emergency use.
