From the Mayor

Last night I was delighted to see a team of young Council staff with leadership potential win the NSW Local Government Professionals Management Challenge for the second year in a row. This is a tremendous achievement and shows the depth of talent in our employees.

The Council has launched a new Net Zero website for residents get information on how to cut their bills and get help to live more sustainably. Our goal is for Ku-ring-gai to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2040. To do that we need your support and I’m very pleased that over 100 local residents have volunteered to become ‘Net Zero Champions’ and spread the word in our community.

Some of these volunteers will be at Killara station from 8.30am on Thursday 15 June and Gordon station from 8.30am on Friday 16 June to talk to you about how to cut your energy bills in a sustainable way. Drop by for a chat and a delicious net zero doughnut on us!

We’re looking for community members to join our Active Transport Committee. We’d especially like to hear from young residents, women and other residents from diverse backgrounds to be part of the committee, which will advise the Council on alternatives to driving. Applications close on 7 June; find out more and apply.

Ten year anniversary celebrations of the Council built facility which became the permanent home for NSW SES Ku-Ring-Gai Unit and NSW RFS Ku-ring-gai Brigade.
