What's on in the Coromandel?

We have taken a hit from recent storm events and the clean-up continues, but the sun is out and the Coromandel’s very much open for business.

Our hospitality and events businesses extend a warm welcome to visitors and look forward to showing just what a special place our district is.

Before you travel, check the status of State Highways on the Waka Kotahi website  and our local Council roads on our website.

Check out all the exciting events coming up in our district over the autumn season.

Coromandel Seafood Festival

Saturday 6 May

Coromandel is home to pristine nutrient-rich waters and a variety of marine life. The western side of the Coromandel Peninsula is renowned for its aquaculture industry supplying world-famous mussels.

The Coromandel Harbour is the maritime gateway to Coromandel Town, supporting oyster and mussel farms, as well as being a great place to catch fish.

The Seafood Fest is held right in the heart of Coromandel Town, featuring live music throughout the day and various other activities, such as ongoing cooking demonstrations by different chefs, featuring local seafood produce. Learn how to open an oyster or how to fillet a fish. Seafood is not the only thing on offer, with plenty of options available including smoked bacon. Once you have worked up an appetite, choose from the many food stalls available.  After satisfying your hunger, kick back and enjoy the live music from various local artists.

See the Destination Coromandel website for further details
