From the MayorThis week marks the start of Plastic Free July – a global movement to reduce the amount of plastic ending up in landfill and our waterways. I encourage you all to join the Plastic Free July challenge and choose to refuse single use plastic. Thanks to everyone who attended yesterday’s webinar on ‘breaking-up’ with single use plastic. We’re hosting another event next Tuesday, and you can also find some great tips on going plastic free on our website.
If you’re looking for something to entertain the kids these school holidays, we’re hosting a range of fun activities at the Wildflower Garden, Library branches, Ku-ring-gai Art Centre and Vacation Care. Check out our website for all the details. I’d also like to invite you to join us on Sunday 26 July to celebrate 30 years of National Tree Day. We’ll be hosting a special tree planting event at The Glade in Wahroonga from 10am to 1pm. Just bring your gloves and a hat, plant a tree and enjoy a sausage sizzle.
