Read more> Hear from maritime archaeologist Dr John McCarthy (and former Flinders PhD student) who is developing world-first AI technology that can help look for ancient submerged landscapes on the ocean’s floor. John is the recipient of an ARC DECRA dedicated to developing the hi-tech solution that can pinpoint potential Aboriginal archaeological material in large survey areas. These areas can then be examined through scientific dives along the Australian coastline. Read more > The HDR development team recently sent out an email asking for feedback about HDR Connect discussion channels and also about the social events you want to experience during your HDR journey. These surveys will remain open for a few more weeks and we have complied some key findings based on the responses so far. DAYEvery day is a chance to ask, ‘Are you OK?’ – and it’s so much more than just a simple question. We can all make a difference in the lives of those who might be struggling by having regular, meaningful conversations about life 's ups and downs. The R U OK? Day website provides resources on how to ask someone 'R U OK?', how do I spot the signs? or take the R U OK? Quiz and download the Conversation Guide. Flinders University Health and Counselling provides free and confidential counselling service to all students (in person or online). Join Oasis and Flinders University Student Association in the Hub & Plaza at Bedford Park on Thursday 8 September (11am-2pm) to celebrate R U OK? Day. Have yourself a day of free goodies, music, giveaways, meaningful conversation and Good Vibes. The Team will also be present at Sturt Courtyard and Flinders at Tonsley Level 1 from 11.30am-2.30pm for free merch, cookies, snacks and drinks! WELLBEING WEEK (5-9 SEPTEMBER)University life can be rewarding, but also challenging when balancing study with other commitments. Wellbeing Week will provide you with tools and information to help you manage your wellbeing while at uni. You’ll also get to know the services available at Flinders to support your physical and mental health. Some of the events and resources include a Good Vibes Experience and Gratitude Wall, introduction to mental health session, wellbeing and spiritual day, mindfulness for academic success, and games in the plaza. Read more > SALHN RESEARCH WEEK (26-30 SEPTEMBER)The Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) Research Week will be held over 5 days from 26 to 30 September 2022 at Flinders Medical Centre. The event is an opportunity to showcase excellence in research and collaborate with existing and emerging partners. The theme for Research Week 2022 will be based on the SALHN Four Fields of Enquiry, with a day being dedicated to each: Discovery Science, Clinical Trials, Health Services Research and Continuous Improvement / Implementation Science. Read more > STUDENT WELLBEING SURVEY - OPENS 5 SEPTEMBERFlinders is using Wellbeing and Skills weeks to launch the inaugural Flinders Student Wellbeing Survey! The survey is just one part of the whole of University Wellbeing Strategic Plan and is the first time a wellbeing survey of this magnitude, has been done across the whole of the university. The survey will be open to all of our students, including students on campuses such as Bedford Park, Tonsley, Victoria Square, Sturt, and Northern Territory and all of our online students as well. The survey will be open from Monday 5 September until Friday 23 September.
